Henry Cavill, who portrayed the Man of Steel from 2013 until his final cameo appearance in 2022’s Black Adam, has sparked inspiration for director Matthew Vaughn.

Apart from Gunn’s DCU franchise, there will also be Elseworlds, which feature other DC stories set in different universes. Examples include the Robert Pattinson-starring "The Batman" and the Joaquin Phoenix-led "Joker" movies.

Vaughn's concept for a Cavill Superman movie revolves around adapting the well-known Superman: Red Son Elseworlds story. In this alternative storyline, Clark lands in the Soviet Union rather than Kansas. Raised under Soviet governance, Superman becomes a champion for socialism and the international expansion of the Warsaw Pact, diverging from the traditional American values of truth, justice, and the American way.

I thought Red Son was one of the cleverest comics I’d ever read, and the current world we’re living in, it’s certainly become a lot more relevant because ignorance causes more issues, and I think the more we learn about Russia and the Russian history.”

Vaughn floated the idea of casting our former Man of Steel and his "Argylle" star, Henry Cavill, as the Soviet Union's Superman.

Wow, can you imagine remaking Red Son with Henry Cavill? That would be an intriguing movie.”

It's unlikely that this collaboration will happen soon. Superman is getting a reboot with 2025’s "Superman: Legacy," featuring new actor David Corenswet.

However, it's not unprecedented. Different versions of the same DC character have existed before under various brandings. If "Superman: Red Son" were to be made, Henry Cavill could potentially fit into DC’s Elseworlds universe, which includes standalone films like "Joker" and "The Batman."
