Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, dropped a bombshell at Jump Festa, suggesting that the manga is poised to conclude its publication within the coming year.

Jump Festa 2024 brought several announcements for Jujutsu Kaisen fans this year. The Shueisha convention in Tokyo revealed that the manga series is tipped to pass 90 million copies in circulation, and Volume 25 will be released on Jan. 4, 2024. However, it was a comment by Akutami that's seeing the most fan attention; a handwritten message was read out to fans, stating, "This is probably my last festival." This reportedly left many in the audience stunned, with "Huh?!" heard from multiple attendees, according to Oricon.

At the Jump Festa panel for Jujutsu Kaisen, anticipation soared as the anime voice actors delivered iconic lines from the highly awaited "Culling Games" arc. With the manga slated to conclude in 2024, this impending finale could mark a significant moment for Shonen Jump. Interestingly, Gege Akutami's storytelling style, characterized by a direct approach and a willingness to conclude characters' narratives just as they gain momentum, has consistently divided fans.
