Marvel Games and NetEase Games have officially announced "Marvel Rivals," an upcoming team-based multiplayer hero shooter featuring the iconic superheroes and supervillains from the Marvel Universe.

"Marvel Rivals" introduces players where two teams of six heroes clash on dynamic battlegrounds. The game showcases an expansive roster of Marvel characters, such as the Hulk, Black Panther, Iron Man, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Spider-Man, among others. Each hero brings their unique set of abilities, closely mirroring their iconic powers from the comics and other media. For instance, Spider-Man's kit emphasizes agility and the ability to ensnare foes temporarily using his web-slinging prowess.

The game is currently in development for PC by a team comprised of developers who have previously worked on acclaimed titles within the Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises. Drawing inspiration from Overwatch, the game adopts a free-to-play model and offers an expanding selection of heroes and villains for players to control. Notably, "Marvel Rivals" distinguishes itself by presenting gameplay from a third-person perspective. As of the game's announcement, "Marvel Rivals" has confirmed the inclusion of nearly 20 different playable characters.

NetEase Games has yet to confirm a console release for Marvel Rivals on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, it would be surprising if the game didn't eventually arrive on these platforms, given the massive player bases they boast.

In the FAQ section of the game's Discord, developers mentioned that the initial release of the game would be on Steam. However, they also noted that they are actively exploring the possibility of releasing the game on other platforms.
