After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that Pedro Pascal renowned for his role in The Last of Us, is in discussions to play Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic, the leader of the superhero group, in the forthcoming Fantastic Four film.

The rumors were true: Marvel Studios has announced the cast for the Fantastic Four in their upcoming MCU debut, and it's pretty much the same as what has been rumored all along.

On February 14, 2024, Marvel confirmed its primary cast for the Fantastic Four movie on X. The announcement featured a post with the caption "Happy Valentine’s Day from Marvel’s First Family! Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn are The Fantastic Four." The accompanying image revealed Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm.

As of now, the voice actor for the robot companion H.E.R.B.I.E. has not been announced. Additionally, the potential inclusion of Doctor Doom as the movie's villain, or the universe-eater Galactus as a highly speculated alternative, has not been confirmed.

In 1994, the first attempt to adapt the Fantastic Four to film never saw the light of day. Their proper big-screen debut happened in 2005. However, a 2015 reboot titled Fantastic Four, directed by Josh Trank, was a critical and commercial failure. Now, in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Fantastic Four are getting another chance.

Fantastic Four Movies in Order: What to Watch Before the New MCU Movie

Disney acquired Fox in 2019, granting Marvel Studios the rights to these characters. Now, Marvel can include them in its interconnected Marvel Cinematic Universe, spanning movies and TV shows.

Matt Shakman, acclaimed for directing "WandaVision" and "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters," is set to direct "Fantastic Four." The screenplay will be crafted by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Filming for the movie is anticipated to commence by the summer.

The release date for the film was initially scheduled for May 2, 2025. However, it has been rescheduled to July 25, 2025, with Marvel's Thunderbolts taking its previous release date.
