In September 2022, fans were thrilled to learn that the fourth installment of the Planet of the Apes reboot series would be titled "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes." After almost seven years since the previous installment, audiences eagerly await the chance to immerse themselves once again in the captivating world of intelligent apes on the big screen in 2024.

"Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" is set to be a soft reboot of the franchise, continuing the story years after the events of the "Caesar Trilogy." While these previous films will still be considered part of the series, the new installment will likely not feature characters such as Caesar, Koba, Cornelia, Maurice, Rocket, and Nova.

An additional revelation unveiled that the film's primary antagonist is an ape named Proximus Caesar. Characterized as a cult-like leader, Proximus wields control by enslaving other ape tribes, directly threatening the legacy and societal structure built by the original Caesar. His actions aim to erode the hard-won achievements and principles of ape civilization, heightening the narrative tension. That's where Noa, a common chimpanzee, emerges as the leader of the rebellion against the dictator.

The film's official synopsis provided by 20th Century Studios states:

"Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike."

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Release Date Moves to Avoid Furiosa

20th Century Studios has released a trailer featuring an exclusive clip to generate excitement for the IMAX release. In the clip, Mae (Freya Allen) is seen hiding from ape soldiers in tall grass, later rescued by the young Noa (Owen Teague).

You can watch the trailer below.

As shown in the trailer, Owen Teague's character, Noa, is the central ape who bravely opposes the oppressive rule of Proximus, played by Kevin Durand. Mae, a wild human saved by Noa, joins him on a vital quest. Peter Macon's Raka, an intelligent orangutan, stands alongside Noa as a trusted ally.

Joining Allen, Teague, and Durand, the film features Peter Macon (known for "The Orville"), William H. Macy ("Fargo"), Travis Jeffery ("Preacher"), Lydia Peckham (from Netflix's "Cowboy Bebop"), Neil Sandilands ("The 100"), Eka Darville ("Jessica Jones"), newcomer Ras-Samuel Weld A'abzgi, Sara Wiseman ("The Cult"), and Dichen Lachman ("Dollhouse").
