Hugh Jackman is rumored to portray John Madden in an upcoming biopic, following his reprisal of Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine.

In 2023, reports indicated that Will Ferrell was being considered for the lead role in a John Madden biopic directed by David O. Russell and written by Cambron Clark. However, the latest update from movie scooper Daniel Richtman suggests that Ferrell is no longer part of the project. Hugh Jackman is rumored to replace Ferrell as John Madden, and there are talks of Tom Hanks joining the film to portray Al Davis.

John Madden is renowned for his career as an NFL coach, notably with the Oakland Raiders from 1969 to 1978, and as a prominent broadcaster. His name is synonymous with the official NFL video games, further solidifying his fame. Madden passed away in 2021 at the age of 85.

Hugh Jackman's casting in the biopic has not been officially confirmed by the studio, so it remains to be seen if it will come to fruition. In the meantime, fans can look forward to seeing Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine, one of the most anticipated upcoming releases. This film is set to be the only MCU movie hitting theaters for the year.
