Henry Cavill recently revealed that he doesn't think he should be out of the running for James Bond just because he played a similar super spy in Argylle.

In an interview with Total Film, Cavill, a leading contender for the next 007 role, stated that he doesn't believe portraying the main character in Argylle will negatively impact his chances of being cast as James Bond. He mentioned that the decision rests with franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Mr. Wilson and emphasized that playing Argylle was an enjoyable experience.

Henry Cavill Nearly Landed The Role of James Bond in Casino Royale

Henry Cavill, a fan-favorite actor, revealed in October 2022 that he was very close to being cast as James Bond for "Casino Royale" in 2006, ultimately losing the role to Daniel Craig. They informed him that it came down to him and Daniel Craig, with age being a deciding factor in favor of Craig.

Despite his subsequent rise to stardom as DC Extended Universe's Superman over the past decade, Cavill, now 40, might be considered too old for the Bond role. Eon Productions, responsible for the James Bond series, has expressed a preference for someone in their 30s for the upcoming Bond 26.

As of October 2023, the next Bond movie seems to be in early stages, with Barbara Broccoli stating that a significant reinvention is ahead, suggesting it will take several years before the next chapter of Bond becomes a reality.
