Millie Bobby Brown, known for her role in Stranger Things, is gearing up for a new adventure in the dark fantasy film Damsel, marking her return to action after some time.
In "Damsel," Millie Bobby Brown portrays Princess Elodie, who reluctantly consents to marry a young Prince only to discover that the royal family intends to sacrifice her to settle an ancient debt. Facing peril in a cave with a fire-breathing dragon and realizing she must rely on herself, Elodie takes control of her fate.
Total Film has offered a sneak peek ahead of Damsel's release with a new image showing Brown as Elodie, dressed in torn garments and blood-streaked, inside what seems to be a castle. This hints that her confrontation with the dragon in the dungeon might just be the initial phase of her escape plan.
Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, in an interview with Total Film, praised Brown for her 'exceptional' ability to convey the required emotions for the movie. He emphasized Brown's understanding of the film's requirement for an intense survival experience, which necessitated conveying genuine suffering and pain to make the story believable.
Fresnadillo explained that Damsel is about transformation, particularly a girl's journey into womanhood. He emphasized the need to convey this transformation authentically, without shortcuts, to create a compelling cinematic experience that immerses the audience fully.
Written by Dan Mazeau and directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, the film also features Angela Bassett as Elodie's stepmother Lady Bayford, Robin Wright as Queen Isabelle, Ray Winstone as the King, Nick Robinson as Prince Henry, and Brooke Carter as Henry's younger sister, Floria.
Damsel is coming to Netflix in March 8, 2024.
